Cinch is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic HR Apprentice to join our team. The successful candidate will support the HR department in delivering a high-quality service across the employee lifecycle. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for HR, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to professional development.
Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am–4:30pm with a 45 minute lunch break; Friday 8am–3:30pm with an hour lunch break (37 hours 30 minutes a week).
Duration: 1 year 6 months.
What you’ll do at work
- Assist with maintaining employee records, updating HR databases, and filing confidential documents.
- Help post job adverts, schedule interviews, and communicate with candidates.
- Support the induction process for new employees, ensuring all paperwork is completed and processed.
- Respond to basic HR queries and direct employees to the appropriate resources.
- Help gather payroll information and support payroll processing tasks.
- Assist with organising training sessions and maintaining training records.
- Participate in HR-related projects and initiatives as directed by the HR team.
- Help ensure HR policies and procedures are followed, supporting audits and compliance checks.

Training
- Service Delivery: Deliver excellent customer service on a range of HR queries and requirements, including solutions, advice and support primarily to managers.
- Problem Solving: Use questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and establish root causes before developing HR solutions.
- Communication & Interpersonal: Deal effectively with customers/colleagues using sound interpersonal skills and communicating well through a range of media.
- Teamwork: Consistently support colleagues, collaborate within the team and with HR to achieve results.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve HR performance and service; act on them within the authority of the role.
- Managing HR Information: Maintain required HR records, prepare reports and management information from HR data as required.
- Personal Development: Keep up to date with business changes and HR legal/policy/process changes relevant to the role; seek feedback and act on it to improve performance and overall capability.
- The apprentice will be working towards the HR Support Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard.
- Monthly classroom attendance at Colchester Institute (Colchester Campus).
Requirements
- GCSE in Maths and English (grade 9‑4 / A*‑C).
- Share any other relevant qualifications and industry experience; the apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

- Ability to work well in a team.
The role may require occasional travel to Cinch Connectivity sites as needed.
After this apprenticeship
- Possible HR Assistant role with progression and support to Level 5.
