We are looking to recruit a Psychology Technician to join our Business and Science School based at our London, Bloomsbury campus.

The position is ideal for someone currently completing or who has recently finished their PhD who’s looking for a springboard into a lecturing role.

As a Psychology Technician you will provide high-quality technical expertise and support to students, staff, and external partners for teaching-related activities (campus-based, distance learning, and collaborative) in the school. You will serve as a primary source of expertise in demonstrating the safe use of specialist psychological equipment, software, and techniques to students and staff.

As a Psychology Technician at The University of Law Business and Science School, you will:

  • Provide high-quality, multi-specialist technical expertise and support for psychology teaching activities (e.g. practical classes, student projects) for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes during and outside standard term times.
  • Contributing to training for students and academic staff on research technologies, software platforms, and best practices.
  • Take responsibility for health, safety, and security in designated areas, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements, including managing risk assessments for laboratory and research spaces.
  • Attend and contribute to one-to-one line management meetings and technical team meetings.
  • Contribute to the development of a collaborative, collegiate, and inclusive culture in line with the University’s equality and diversity policies.

Is this you?:

  • BSc (Hons) degree in Psychology or related discipline (2:1 or above)
  • Experience of conducting or assisting in designing and conducting psychological experiments
  • Knowledge of health and safety at work practices and legal requirements, and their implementation in a Psychology laboratory (Risk Assessments, PAT, COSHH etc)
  • Familiarity with psychological research software for experimental design, data collection and analysis (e.g. Gorilla, SPSS, NVivo, Qualtrics etc)
  • Good understanding of psychophysiological equipment (e.g. EEG, Biopac); observation and recording systems; and psychometric test batteries
  • Good programming skills in one or more languages (e.g. Python, C, C#, Java, VB, Matlab)
  • Willingness and ability to learn new software/systems and to stay current with emerging technologies.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and solve problems
