This long‑term placement offers consistency, supportive leadership, and the opportunity to deliver engaging Science lessons in a welcoming secondary school in South Bristol. You’ll play a key role in maintaining progress and strong routines from the start of the academic year.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Science Teacher for a long‑term, full‑time placement in a secondary school in South Bristol from September. You will deliver well‑structured, engaging lessons that develop pupils’ scientific knowledge and practical skills, supporting learners across KS3 and KS4.

This role is ideal for a qualified teacher looking for a consistent timetable, an ECT seeking strong long‑term experience, or an experienced practitioner who enjoys building relationships and driving progress over time.

Core Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high‑quality Science lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Teach across KS3 and KS4, adapting delivery to meet a range of abilities
  • Use practical work safely and effectively to develop scientific enquiry and understanding
  • Assess learning, provide feedback, and contribute to tracking and reporting where required
  • Maintain positive behaviour and consistent classroom routines in line with school policies
  • Work collaboratively with the Science department to share resources and support pupil progress
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and promote a safe, inclusive learning environment

  • Confident subject knowledge and the ability to explain concepts clearly
  • Strong classroom presence with calm, consistent behaviour management
  • Ability to plan engaging lessons and adapt to different learning needs
  • Organised, reliable, and proactive approach to day‑to‑day teaching
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative, team‑first mindset

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK (or equivalent recognised teaching qualification)
  • Experience teaching Science in a secondary setting, ideally across KS3 and KS4
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding requirements and responsibilities
  • Confidence delivering practical Science safely, including lab routines and risk awareness
  • Right to work in the UK and enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
