The ESG Support Officer provides hands‑on support, coordination, and implementation of ESG‑related initiatives, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and internal objectives. The role is pivotal in bringing structure to the ESG office and assisting in the smooth execution of projects and tasks across the business units.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and project management support to the ESG Director, Compliance/Reporting Lead, Data Lead, and Impact Lead.
- Assist in organising and preparing for meetings, including the ESG Steering Committee and Arriva Management Board (AMB), taking minutes when needed.
- Coordinate the implementation of ESG‑related regulations and initiatives across the Group, assisting the rollout of ESG frameworks and systems including software for CSRD compliance.
- Serve as a point of contact for business units, guiding and supporting ESG matters, training local teams, communicating requirements and updates, and sharing best practices.
- Support the development and implementation of ESG data strategies, data governance, and reporting systems, reviewing and standardising ESG data collection across the Group.
- Prepare and distribute reports, presentations, and other ESG‑project documentation, maintaining up‑to‑date records.
- Assist in building internal ESG expertise by supporting training materials, working with external consultants, and enhancing Arriva’s ESG capabilities.
Qualifications
- Passion for sustainability and ESG and commitment to personal growth in this field.
- Prior experience in project management or administrative support, ideally within a corporate or ESG‑focused environment.
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, business administration or a related field.
- Familiarity with ESG regulations and reporting frameworks such as CSRD, SECR, TCFD, IFRS S1, IFRS S2.
- Exceptional organisational skills, able to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Confident and concise communication skills, able to build relationships at all levels.
- Proficiency in data management and analysis with attention to detail.
- Proactive, self‑motivated, able to work independently and as part of a wider team.
- Confidence in a dynamic environment, adaptability to new challenges.
- Collaborative mindset, willingness to support colleagues and contribute to group success.
