MTrec recruitment are proudly representing our industry‑leading client in their recruitment for a skilled mechanical fitter. This is a day shift position, and experience within heavy industry is essential.
The Job you will do
- Carry out mechanical maintenance, repairs, and installations.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults and breakdowns.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and manuals.
- Replace and fit components, including bearings, pumps, motors, conveyors, and gearboxes.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Complete maintenance records and reports accurately.
- Support machinery upgrades and improvement projects.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with engineering and production teams to minimise downtime.
About you
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, apprenticeship, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in mechanical fitting or maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems including hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Good understanding of health & safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
