We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an on‑site Maintenance Electrician in HMP Long Lartin.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, across 7 days with a 1 in 3 weekend shift pattern, and includes an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary. You will also be part of the on‑call rota, contributing to responsive works.
The base salary ranges between £30,866 and £36,135, dependent on experience.
What you will do
- Planned and preventative electrical maintenance, including administrative duties aligned to the tasks.
- Actively fault finding and problem solving on electrical systems across the prison.
- Carry out like‑for‑like replacements and other electrical minor works, ensuring relevant inspections and tests are carried out and results recorded in accordance with BS7671.
- Ensure all electrical systems are safe, compliant, and functioning effectively to help create a secure and well‑maintained environment for staff and residents.
- Assist the Responsible Person and Authorised Person when requested.
- Implement and follow Health & Safety standards, risk assessments, and safe systems of work consistently across all appropriate work streams.
- Assist with escorting duties and other duties as required.
What you will bring
- City & Guilds 2367 or 2357 Level 2 Electrical Installation works or equivalent.
- BS7671 18th Edition; 17th Edition considered with upskilling to 18th Edition.
- Good working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements.
- Good working knowledge of planned and preventative maintenance operations.
- Excellent organisational, time‑management, and people skills.
- Experience working under pressure to tight deadlines.
- Ability to work at heights, independently, and use initiative.
- Understanding of fire alarm and CCTV systems (desirable).
- Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations.
- Basic IT skills.

Additional Information
Prison security clearance will be required. Amey will support you through this process; completion can take up to 12 weeks, after which a start date will be agreed.
