Pharmacy Technician (MMT) – Cancer and Aseptics

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (flexible working available)
Responsibilities
- Participate in pharmaceutical service to the Cancer Centre Day unit and Cancer Ward.
- Assist clinical pharmacists with day‑to‑day medicines management service.
- Act as operational link between pharmacy teams, chemotherapy day unit, out‑patient services and cancer ward.
- Communicate with clinical pharmacists, aseptic staff and multidisciplinary team to facilitate seamless care.
- Provide ward and day‑unit based pharmacy services.
- Engage in quality improvement, audit work, medicines optimisation and safety initiatives.
- Support cancer pharmacists and wider cancer team with medicines‑related issues.
- Participate in departmental meetings and support effective communication within the department.
- Contribute to weekend and bank‑holiday rota coverage.
Qualifications & Knowledge
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with evidence of CPD in line with GPhC requirements.
- BTEC + NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
- Accredited Checking Technician or willingness to achieve status within 12 months of start date.
- Knowledge of medicines management, relevant legislation and policies.
- Evidence of providing patient‑care advice on drug dosage and use.
Experience
- Competent pharmacy practice post‑qualification documented in a CPD portfolio.
- Medication counselling of patients.
- Experience in hospital pharmacy or community health services.
- Experience supporting staff training.
- Experience in audit participation.
- Experience in developing or formulating SOPs/guidelines.
- Experience using eCare or other health‑information systems.
- Experience with report writing.
