We’re expanding our sales team and are looking for a dependable Area Sales Executive to help us develop our business in the West Country, looking after merchants and manufacturing businesses in BS/BA/TA/EX/TQ/PL/TR postcodes.
Stamco Hoppings is part of the Independent Builders Merchant Group.
The Role
Provide a timely, friendly and professional service to customers, ensuring that customer expectations are not just met but exceeded whilst at the same time optimising contribution to sales, margin and gross profit.
This is a field/home-based role, with an expectation to attend our sales office and production facility in Hastings, East Sussex, once a month.
Main Duties
- Work effectively as part of a team promoting the company’s vision, values and aspirations at all times.
- Establish strong commercial relations with existing customers and new business to generate revenue and exceed sales and profit targets.
- Establish strong relationships with colleagues to maximise customer service and efficiency.
- When working from the office, process orders, quotations and deal with general customer enquiries by email and telephone.
- Use initiative to identify and resolve customer / product problems or issues.
- Proactively identify new sales opportunities with new and existing customers to assist the maximising of sales and margin.
- Liaise with suppliers where necessary.
- Work cooperatively with colleagues in operations at all sites to maximise customer service.
- Proactively contact customers and ASEs to follow up enquiries and orders.
- Reactively deal with incoming customer enquiries and orders.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
- Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of Timber products and its end use.
- Ability to understand needs of both merchant and manufacturing customers.
- Understanding the production process of our Timber Products from source.
- Competent use of Outlook and Excel for customer communications and pricing.
- Knowledge of Kerridge systems.
- Face to Face sales, calling upon existing and potential new customers.
Person Specification
Monday to Friday 08:00-17:00
Full Driving License, Sales Experience, Timber or Builders Merchant sector experience preferred.
