Job Description
We are seeking an experienced, trustworthy, and warm-natured Live-In Housekeeper to work directly with the Principal within a well-run private household, based between London and South of France throughout 2026, before settling into a longer-term London residence from 2027 onwards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys creating and maintaining a calm, organised, and beautifully kept home environment, and who takes quiet pride in their work.
The household consists of the Principal and her Dachshund, with residences typically comprising spacious 4–5 bedroom rural properties. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of housekeeping to an exceptional standard, including cleaning, laundry, ironing, wardrobe and linen care, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the home. Additional duties will include preparing simple healthy meals, shopping and errands, receiving post and deliveries, welcoming guests when required, liaising with tradespeople, and assisting with household organisation and security. There will also be some involvement in caring for and walking the Principal’s dog.
Candidates must have a minimum of 2–3 years’ experience working within a live-in private household role with excellent references. The role requires someone who is highly discreet, reliable, adaptable, and capable of working independently whilst maintaining consistently high standards.
A full clean driving licence and valid passport are essential, as occasional travel within the UK and abroad may be required beyond the planned UK-France rotation.
Fluent English is essential and Spanish would be highly advantageous.
The position is offered on a live-in basis with fully provided accommodation at all locations, including a private bedroom and bathroom, together with all utilities covered.
Working days and hours are 5 days per week, approximately 40 hours with flexibility required occasionally to accommodate travel or household needs, with any additional time compensated through equivalent time off. The salary offered is £40–£45k gross per annum depending on experience.
Role to commence as soon as the right candidate is found.
