The Role

Edmundson Electrical is looking to recruit, train and develop ambitious graduates to be based out of any of their 400 independently run profit centres across the UK.

As a Graduate Commercial Sales Trainee you will be educated on the company, its products and the market. You will receive continuous on‑the‑job training and professional sales training to equip you with all the tools and skills needed to flourish in a successful sales career. Progression opportunities extend into External Sales and potentially Profit Centre Management.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain a comprehensive knowledge of the business while training within different functions.
  • Develop into an external, customer‑facing sales role after around 12 months.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities from new customers and dormant/lapsed accounts.
  • Gain thorough product knowledge to be competent and effective when dealing with customers and promoting the benefits of using Edmundson Electrical as a supplier of choice.
  • Chase down leads, influence, negotiate and generate sales over the phone and in person.
  • First 6 months: Train in a warehouse, learn about products, operating procedures, market, customers and suppliers; then rotate through various departments including the trade counter; begin selling and call lapsed/dormant accounts and self‑source new accounts; start industry‑leading sales training through BMS.
  • Next 6‑12 months: Consistently bring in sales and revenue; learn the full sales process; develop relationships with senior sales colleagues; continue BMS sales training.
  • From 12 months onwards: Move out of the trainee role, work towards sales targets and become an essential part of the external sales team; pursue future management opportunities based on success and long‑lasting customer relationships.

Qualifications

  • Fantastic verbal and written communication skills.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work both in a team and independently.
  • Willingness to work occasional Saturday mornings, as the business trades 6 days a week.
  • Recent graduate, ready to start immediately.
