Job Description:

Funeral Service Crew – Part Time

You will work on a caring team delivering the funeral service crew duties with professionalism and compassion. No prior funeral industry experience is required; full training and ongoing support will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect the deceased from various locations in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Bear coffins and drive funeral vehicles as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of equipment and facilities, including vehicles.
  • Prepare coffins and engrave name plates.
  • Prepare the deceased in our care for viewings and funerals.
  • Maintain client management applications daily, inputting detailed and timely information to keep records consistently updated.
  • Safely lift, carry and move coffins following safe techniques, using handling aids and equipment and following health and safety guidance to prevent injuries.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Valid UK manual driving licence.
  • Physical ability to perform lifting and manual tasks.
  • Good IT skills and confidence to use a range of technology devices (computer, tablet, smartphone, printer, scanner) and to learn new applications and systems.
  • Calm, compassionate and empathetic approach to customer service with the ability to react calmly in emotional circumstances.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring regulatory policies and processes are always adhered to.

Working Hours and Pay

20 hours per week, working a variety of shifts between Monday – Sunday, 8 am – 8 pm. Pay rate: £13.24 per hour plus benefits. Location: Southend, SS2 6JJ.
