Job Overview

Radipole ward, a 33‑bed rehabilitation and end‑of‑life care ward in Dorset HealthCare, is seeking Band 3 Healthcare Support Workers. The role is patient‑centred with a strong focus on rehabilitation, frailty and end‑of‑life care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a high‑quality, person‑centred approach to care delivery, ensuring patient privacy, dignity and safety.
  • Deliver planned care to a group of patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, following Trust policies and protocols.
  • Support and guide less experienced staff and learners within the clinical environment.
  • Manage a defined group of patients/service users under indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse, using evidence‑based, client‑centred principles.
  • Contribute to ongoing assessment, planning, implementation and monitoring of patient/service user care, escalating to senior practitioner as needed.
  • Promote health and prevent ill health, contributing to integrated care.
  • Plan and undertake clinical tasks guided by standard operating procedures and protocols, within the limitations of the Healthcare Assistant role.
  • Undertake delegated clinical skills within their scope of practice, having undertaken relevant training, deemed competent and adhering to local and national guidance.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Valid right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship not available.
  • Enhanced DBS check required; the Trust will cover the cost.
  • Experience or interest in rehabilitation, frailty and end‑of‑life care.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and assessment skills.
  • Positive, patient‑centred attitude and willingness to learn and support colleagues.
