Job Description:

Manchester City Council is seeking an Accommodation Support Worker (Grade 5) within the Homelessness service, part of the Directorate for Families, Health and Wellbeing. Based at Abraham Moss Centre, Crescent Road, Manchester (M8 5UF), this is a temporary role running from 1 June to 1 September 2026, paying £15.43 per hour PAYE (£19.52 umbrella).

An urgent start is required — candidates with a DBS already in place and no or minimal notice periods are strongly preferred.

Working as part of a team, you will act as lead professional and key worker for individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, many of whom present with multiple and complex needs. Much of the work is delivered in customers’ own accommodation and community venues.

  • Assessing customer needs and co-producing action plans with agreed goals.
  • Building trusted relationships and challenging patterns of behaviour that undermine positive outcomes.
  • Delivering targeted interventions focused on skills development and behavioural change.
  • Advising on rent accounts and affordability planning.
  • Supporting customers through the rehousing process to minimise time in temporary accommodation.
  • Maintaining accurate case records.

You will work collaboratively with a wide range of partner agencies to coordinate holistic, needs-led support that promotes independence and builds resilience.

If you have relevant homelessness or housing support experience and are ready to make an immediate impact, please get in touch.

  • Excellent, competitive pay rates – paid weekly.
  • Supportive management team with approachable, experienced leaders.
  • A desirable location with great transport links.
  • A stable, well‑resourced, and encouraging working environment.
