Overview
The Adult Social Care Mental Health and Substance Misuse team at East Sussex County Council is looking for a dedicated social worker to provide social care for adults with mental health and substance misuse issues across Lewes, Havens and Wealden.
Responsibilities
- Investigate safeguarding concerns.
- Carry out statutory assessments.
- Commission support services and present reports to panels or in court.
- Work with partner agencies, carers and families to build networks of support that enable people to maintain independence.
- Work within a hybrid arrangement, including office‑based work, home visits and remote work, while meeting travel requirements.
- Develop and implement effective plans based on needs assessments.
- Future training as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) and other key training.
Qualifications
- Social work qualified and registered with Social Work England (registration number required).
- Knowledge of relevant legal and policy frameworks.
- Experience completing needs assessments and developing effective care plans.
- Ability to work independently.
Working arrangements
The role operates under a hybrid model, combining office‑based work, in‑home visits and remote work, with travel as required.
