Their core purpose is to provide high-quality, competitive, and person-centred residential and daytime support for the people of Lancashire.

Olive House is seeking Befriending volunteers. Their role would be to help positively engage residents and assist them in participating in various activities held at the home. Regular meetings with a befriender can increase confidence, resilience, and independence of the service users. Befrienders actively support, encourage, and empower residents to achieve specific goals and objectives.

The support from a volunteer can make a difference in someone’s life, even with just a smile. If you have time to volunteer and want to help, please apply.

This volunteering role is subject to a DBS check. To qualify, you must have been a resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

  • Applicants must be willing to undergo an induction process with relevant background checks and an enhanced DBS check (free of charge).
  • Once you apply online, one of our Volunteer Officers will contact you to arrange your DBS check.
  • Encourage and spend time chatting and listening to residents to help combat loneliness.
  • Help brighten a resident’s day.
  • Log volunteering hours monthly and submit expenses online (where applicable).
  • Complete minimum level training, such as safeguarding, and commit to further training relevant to the role.

Training:

Training will be provided via distance learning or trainer-led sessions. Volunteers must complete the required training before participating in activities and may be asked to refresh training periodically.
