GSL Education are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Support staff to work in schools across Gateshead.

As SEN Support, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to provide tailored support, helping students access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals committed to inclusive education.

Main Responsibilities of SEN Support

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with additional needs
  • Assist students in accessing the curriculum and completing classroom tasks
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and personalised strategies
  • Work alongside teachers to adapt learning materials and approaches
  • Build positive relationships to encourage engagement and progress
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Requirements of SEN Support

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEN or support setting
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (desirable but not essential)
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs
  • A relevant degree such as Psychology or Education is beneficial
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
