Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology – Glaucoma
Grade: MC75. Permanent, part‑time – 8 sessions per week. Job reference: 162-0463‑BS‑J.
Site: Queen’s Hospital, Romford. Salary: £63,696 to £102,689. Closing date: 09/06/2026 23:59.
Responsibilities
- Provide continuing clinical care for patients in charge and ensure efficient department functioning.
- Deliver high‑quality, responsive ophthalmological services to patients.
- Provide inpatient cover when required.
- Perform administrative duties related to patient care and department management.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of current clinical practice and equipment usage.
- Engage in professional development and complete all mandatory training.
- Support Medical Retina and/or Glaucoma teams; report to the responsible consultant; mentor junior staff.
- Participate in the launch of the Clinical Diagnostic Hub (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital.
Qualifications
- Hold an MBBS, MRCS, FRCS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Specialty knowledge and experience in Glaucoma.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in clinical or quality improvement audit.
- History of presentations and/or publications in the field.
- Commitment to teaching and professional development.
- UK professional registration (required).
- Compliance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) – mandatory disclosure.
