We are looking for a Housekeeper / Cleaner to join our team at the Whiteleaf Centre in Aylesbury to provide a safe and clean environment for patients and staff in an acute mental health ward. The role involves housekeeping duties and preparing and serving cook/chill meals for patients.

This is a full‑time role with a 7‑day rolling rota. We want flexible, reliable team players with good interpersonal and communication skills. You will be a key part of improving patient experience through a high‑quality housekeeping service, including terminal and enhanced cleaning.

Main duties of the job

  • Carry out daily cleaning routines as scheduled
  • Handle and remove waste in line with segregation processes and procedures
  • Regenerate cook/chill meals and record temperatures of food at appropriate stages within the relevant wards
  • Ensure kitchen equipment, regeneration equipment and all surfaces are clean at all times
  • Ensure food is ready to be served at the correct times for service and all waste food is discarded immediately after service
  • Ensure the dining room is cleaned after each meal
  • Wash‑up and account for all cutlery, crockery and kitchen utensils after meals and breaks
  • Ensure all food items are correctly stored and supplies are adequate
  • Follow hygiene and health & safety regulations
  • Ensure cleaning trolleys are fully stocked with sufficient cleaning materials and equipment
  • Ensure all cleaning materials are used as directed, secured safely and in compliance with COSHH regulations
  • Observe proper procedures upon entering a patient room
  • Report any damages or hazards in patient rooms to Head Housekeeper

Person Specification

  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals
  • Basic cleaning skills; willing to undertake NVQ2 food hygiene
  • Understanding of the principles of delivering quality customer service
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Experience of working in a health‑care setting
