As a volunteer speaker, youwill use your voice to inspire people with stories from those we work withoverseas.
You Will make a fantasticcontribution to our work by delivering pre-scripted 4-minute talks at Mass inlocal Catholic parish churches across Essex and east London. These talks aremainly given at weekends spanning the two CAFOD Fast days a year, duringearly Lent and at Harvest (October) which are our fundraising platforms inCatholic parishes during the year. You may also be asked to deliver a talk toparish groups. As a speaker you will play a highly valued role in raisingawareness and support for CAFOD’s work. You will meet amazing communities andmotivate them to participate.
At minimum, you could speak onjust four weekends a year (around the Fast Days at the beginning of Octoberand beginning of Lent). There are more opportunities throughout the year ifyou wish to give more time. Prior to each Fast Day you will be invited totake part in a briefing day to ensure you are up to date with the work ofCAFOD’s partners.
You do not need to bereligious or a person of faith, but respectful of the Catholic faithcommunity you will be addressing, and be interested in CAFOD’s work and keento inspire others
We’ll provide training andscripts to help you deliver great talks and introduce you to parishes who arelooking for speakers.
Skills
You will have excellent verbalcommunication skills, be confident, articulate and inspiring in front of a Masscongregation. You will be approachable and comfortable talking to potentialvolunteers and anyone with questions after your talk.

Availability Details
Volunteer speakers will be required to speak over 4 weekends during the year at the beginning of Lent (mid Feb – mid March) and late September / beginning of October.The talks will be delivered at Mass in Catholic churches on a Saturday evening and Sunday morning. There may also be the possibility of speaking at other times during the year when there is an emergency appeal.
