Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential? Leader Education are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist PRU provision supporting Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This rewarding role is ideal for someone who thrives on building positive relationships, supporting emotional development, and helping students re‑engage with education in a meaningful way.

The provision supports students who may be at risk of, or have experienced, permanent exclusion from mainstream education. Staff work together to create a calm, structured, and nurturing environment where every young person feels safe, supported, and valued. Through a therapeutic and student‑centred approach, students are encouraged to rebuild confidence, develop resilience, and make lasting academic and personal progress.

Your role will include:

  • Providing both emotional and academic support to students
  • Delivering targeted 1:1 and small group interventions
  • Supporting students with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
  • Building strong, professional relationships that promote trust and engagement
  • Encouraging participation, confidence, and positive attitudes towards learning
  • Remaining calm and professional when managing challenging situations
  • Making a genuine difference to students’ long‑term outcomes and wellbeing

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with young people, ideally within education or SEMH settings (not essential)
  • Is patient, empathetic, and resilient
  • Has strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • Is passionate about helping students succeed both academically and personally
