1:1 Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant

A welcoming primary school in Old Trafford is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to work with a Year 4 pupil who finds certain aspects of learning and the school environment challenging.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30 am – 3.30 pm

Pay: Competitive daily rate, paid weekly

About the Role

In this role, you will provide consistent 1:1 support to help the pupil access learning, regulate emotions, and engage positively with the school day. The child benefits from a calm, patient adult who can provide structure, reassurance, and clear boundaries while encouraging independence and confidence over time.

You will be part of a wider school team and will work closely with the class teacher and SEN staff to implement behaviour strategies and support plans tailored to the pupil’s needs.

Qualifications and Experience

Experience supporting children with behavioural, social, or emotional needs is highly desirable, whether in a school, care, youth work, or similar setting.

All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance is provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 behavioural and emotional support throughout the school day

  • Help to manage transitions and potentially challenging moments

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and SEN professionals
  • Monitor progress and feed back to relevant staff
