Maintenance Engineer – Mechanical and Climatic Test Department

Environmental Engineering & Facilities is looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join our Mechanical and Climatic Test Department. Salary is circa £52,500, depending on experience. The role is dynamic and hybrid, requiring presence on-site five days per week.

Security clearance: British citizen or dual UK national with British citizenship. All successful candidates will undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS).

Responsibilities

• Maintain all test equipment across the department, including electrodynamic shakers, bearings, pumps, thermal chambers and related systems.
• Collaborate closely with other maintenance engineers.
• Provide hands‑on support and experience in the test lab.
• Support the department’s growth, including a new facility expected to be completed and commissioned within the next 12 months.

Qualifications

Essential

• Practical experience of maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Awareness of Environmental Engineering tests and equipment.

Desirable

• Experience with CREO or other CAD tools.
• Experience in thermal modelling.
• Experience maintaining electrodynamic shakers and refrigeration systems.
• Experience with hand tools and power tools.
