SEN Teaching Assistants – September Start

Prospero Teaching is seeking passionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistants to join a range of SEN schools and Alternative Provisions across Southampton from September 2026. These settings offer a highly rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people with additional needs, behavioural challenges, or barriers to learning. Many of these schools are offering temp‑to‑perm opportunities for candidates who demonstrate commitment, consistency, and the ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing personalised support to children with a range of special educational needs.
• Assisting in the planning and delivery of creative, therapeutic, and inclusive activities.
• Promoting safety, emotional well‑being, and positive engagement.
• Supporting pupils with daily routines, emotional regulation, and developing independence.
• Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families through clear and consistent communication.

Position Details

• Location: Southampton and surrounding areas.
• Position: SEN Teaching Assistant.
• Start Date: September 2026.
• Contract Type: Full‑time, with temp‑to‑perm pathways available.
• Pay Rate: From £13.96 per hour.
• Working Hours: 08:30am – 15:30pm (may vary slightly from school to school).

What We Require

• Have the Right to Work in the UK.
• Hold an enhanced child‑barred list DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).
• Provide professional references covering the past 24 months, ideally involving work with children or vulnerable individuals.
• Hold a Level 2/3 qualification in childcare, education, or a related field (or have relevant experience).
