Music Tutor (Drumming, Songwriting, Composition & Collaborative Sounds)

You will deliver inclusive and engaging music classes with a focus on:

  • Creating a safe, supportive environment where all participants can explore drumming, songwriting, composition, or collaborative sound at their own pace.
  • Interactive music sessions that foster connection, creativity, and expression.
  • Collaborative music-making and sound exploration.
  • Building confidence, listening skills, and creative expression through music.

Course details: Each session is 2 hours per week, once a week, over 11 weeks per term, across 3 terms per year. Classes take place on a set weekday, either 10:00–12:00 or 13:00–15:00, with some flexibility to accommodate tutor availability. Opportunities may arise to teach more than one class per week.

Who You’ll Teach

You will work with adult learners who have a wide range of learning support needs, disabilities, and mental health conditions. Learners with SEND may present with varying conditions, limitations, skills, and abilities. Learners with mental health conditions may have experienced trauma or grief, and may be living with depression, anxiety, or other challenges. Their skill levels can range from very low to highly developed. Most learners are returning to education, while some may be engaging for the first time.

Who We Are Looking For

  • A strong background and passion in drumming, songwriting, music composition, or collaborative sound practices.
  • Compassion and experience (or a willingness to develop skills) in supporting the learners described above.
  • A patient, inclusive, and flexible teaching approach, with a commitment to delivering high‑quality, engaging sessions.
  • Creativity, energy, and enthusiasm, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on learners in an enjoyable and meaningful way.

Salary

£34.72 per hour.
