Job Profile Summary
This is a Senior Analyst position within the Exposure Management function, with specific focus on the Specialty classes of Energy & Marine. The role involves line management and development of the Energy and Marine Analyst(s) and supervision of any external outsourced resources. It provides exposure analysis services to the underwriting function at a risk and portfolio level, requiring close monitoring of accumulation against the company’s risk appetites. The Senior Analyst must ensure completeness and accuracy of data and analytics, manage relationships with outsourcing partners, provide training where necessary, and support the underwriting division by developing and enhancing processes to manage exposures of the Specialty classes and reporting accumulations to various committees and regulators.
Job Description
Responsibilities
- Be the subject expert for capturing the exposure to Energy & Marine classes and analysing risk within our modelling and aggregation systems.
- Interpret slip terms and conditions, identify and capture exposures into a data format suitable for the systems.
- Review data presented in underwriting submissions and liaise with brokers and underwriters to obtain information required to analyse the risk.
- Produce management information and analytical reports for the Specialty classes to enable underwriters to monitor and quantify their exposures and manage portfolios within risk appetite.
- Support the Specialty lead and Portfolio Manager with risk appetite monitoring and annual review to align with business planning; create alternative appetite monitoring methodologies as required.
- Answer queries and peer‑review data entry work from outsourced team.
- Overall responsibility for the entry of data into the aggregation and modelling systems, continuously improving performance and efficiency.
- Ensure all processes are fully documented and relevant governance documents are kept up to date.
- Work closely with other Specialty Analysts to ensure consistency across classes and to understand the Specialty team’s priorities and deadlines.
- Work closely with underwriters daily to understand their priorities and manage expectations accordingly.
- Understand how the “Chaucer View of Risk” relates to the business written by the Specialty divisions and explain this to stakeholders.
- Supervise day‑to‑day activities of the Analysts in the team, providing training and development for both Analysts and the Outsourcing Team.
- Participate in joint activities of the Exposure Management Team and take part in relevant projects across the wider business.
- Manage relationships with outsourcing partners and provide training where necessary.
- Support the production of modelling and data for outbound reinsurance requirements.
- Assist with the production of Exposure Management returns, both internally and to Lloyds and other external regulators.

- Knowledge of Exposure Management (essential)
- Thorough understanding of (re)insurance concepts, slip terms and conditions
- Deterministic scenario reporting experience (desirable)
- Experience using Sequel Impact (desirable)
- Experience using Moody’s RiskLink (desirable)
- Advanced use of Microsoft Excel (essential)
- Knowledge of other Microsoft Office products (essential)
- SQL knowledge advantageous (desirable)
- Knowledge of mapping solutions such as ArcGIs or EigenPrism (desirable)
