About the Role

Base Salary: £26,403 – £26,824 per annum plus weekend working and overtime enhanced pay, excellent pension and annual leave entitlement.

Working Pattern: Full time – 37 hours per week.

Contract: Permanent.

Location: Worthing.

Shift pattern: 9:30 pm – 7:30 am, working alternate weekends with a rolling rota.

As a Night Childcare Worker, you will ensure that all children’s and young people’s physical and emotional night care needs are met. This includes managing challenging behaviour, providing emotional support when needed, supporting children in their curfew and ensuring a safe return if out in the community. The support given enables our children and young people to maintain and improve their skills and daily lives in line with individual care plans. You will also be responsible for report writing, nightly checks and household chores when required.

Our ideal candidate will be caring, empathic and resilient. Working closely with many other professionals you will help to provide high quality care in a homely and caring environment.

Experience and Skills

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent. If you do not have this, the service will support you to complete the qualification; you must achieve it within two years of appointment as it is a statutory requirement.
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills to a range of children and families.
  • Ability to promote and encourage a multi‑agency approach to support the child.
  • Ability to use initiative to resolve problems within given parameters.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise work.
  • Ability to work as part of a team around a child.
  • Good standard of literacy, e.g. ability to write reports around individuals and significant incidents.
  • Knowledge of how to support children who have experienced trauma, harm or abuse (desirable).

Additional Information
