Professional Duties
- Plan and prepare lesson and course content in line with the NI CCEA Technology curriculum.
- Teach KS3 Technology and Design, GCSE Technology and Design, and support & challenge pupils of all abilities.
- Assess, record and report on pupil development, progress and attainment.
- Provide advice and guidance to pupils on educational, social matters and future careers.
- Communicate and consult with parents, pupils, colleagues, and the wider community.
- Participate in meetings and professional development programmes, and apply best practice in assessment and pupil welfare.
- Maintain discipline and a safe learning environment, and comply with health and safety policies.
- Prepare pupils for public examinations and contribute to examination arrangements.
- Assist in staff management, induction of new teachers, and administrative tasks related to the curriculum and school operations.
Essential Criteria – Section 1
- Hold a teaching qualification recognised by the Education Authority in Northern Ireland.
- Hold an Honours degree 2:2 or above in a technology related field.
- Hold relevant qualifications in workshop practice approved by the Department of Education (NI).
- Be registered with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland before taking up the post.
- Demonstrable experience of teaching KS3 Technology and Design.
- Demonstrable experience of teaching GCSE Technology and Design.
- Experience in using classroom approaches to support and challenge pupils of varying ability, including those with special educational needs.
- Experience contributing to extra‑curricular programmes within a school.
Additional Essential Criteria – Section 2
- Knowledge and understanding of the NI CCEA Technology curriculum.
- Knowledge of how to improve pupil learning and assessment strategies.
- Demonstrable subject‑specific teaching approaches and current knowledge of positive behaviour strategies.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using the SIMS management system.
- Ability to set targets, give constructive feedback and use data to inform practice.
- Initiative, problem‑solving, flexibility and teamwork.
- Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.
- Evidence that experience and approach reflect the school’s values and ethos.
Desirable Criteria – Section 3
- Experience teaching Maths or Science to KS3 pupils.
- Experience teaching GCSE Construction.
- Experience teaching Technology and Design to AS level.
