We are hiring Newly Qualified Social Workers

St Helens Borough Council is seeking newly qualified social workers to support children and families in the heart of the Northwest, close to Liverpool, Manchester and Lancashire. The council is undergoing a transformation journey and places children at the centre of care.

Joining us means you will provide expertise commensurate with your role, experience and grade, acting as a valuable resource to the team and department. You will have a protected caseload for two years and will receive additional support from the ASYE co‑ordinator and the Social Work Academy.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a protected caseload for 2 years and deliver high‑quality service to children and families.
  • Act as a key resource for the team, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues.
  • Take part in the Social Work Academy for continuous professional development.
  • Work in a hybrid model, attending St Helens office regularly while allowing some home working.
  • Ensure compliance with Enhanced DBS disclosure and Social Work England registration.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Newly qualified social worker with required registration.
  • Some experience of managing a caseload is desirable.
  • Social Work England registration and Enhanced DBS disclosure.
  • Willingness to work in a hybrid arrangement, attending the St Helens area regularly.
