Job Description:

St Paul’s Cathedral is seeking a Property Maintenance Operative to help deliver day‑to‑day maintenance and operational support required across our historic site.

Working as part of the Property team, you will support the delivery of the Annual Works Programme through a wide range of practical duties, helping to maintain the Cathedral, its grounds and associated spaces to a high standard. This varied, hands‑on role will include assisting with maintenance tasks, event set‑ups and planned preventative maintenance activities within one of London’s most iconic working environments.

About the Role

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assist other trades by carrying out labouring tasks
  • Supporting the set‑up and breakdown of Cathedral events
  • Undertaking minor electrical and plumbing repairs
  • Carrying out external maintenance across Cathedral grounds
  • Assisting with planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Escorting contractors and external production teams
  • Inputting data into the CAFM system
  • Assisting with lifting and moving equipment and materials
  • Maintaining tools and equipment where appropriate

About You

We are looking for someone who is flexible, dependable and willing to support a variety of operational activities. They should be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, able to undertake physical duties including lifting and working at heights, confident climbing staircases and accessing routes to the Cathedral galleries, and willing to undertake training including health and safety training. Friendly and professional when interacting with colleagues, contractors and visitors, and proactive with initiative.
