Family Support Worker (Visits Centre Assistant)
Support families visiting their loved ones in prison by creating a welcoming and supportive environment in the visitor centre.
Responsibilities
- Provide information and guidance to adults and children.
- Organise activities for children and ensure refreshments are available.
- Assist with making visits as positive and stress‑free as possible.
- Support families during challenging times, using experience to handle situations calmly and sensitively.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues and partner agencies, ensuring safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of family support services.

Salary and Hours
£28,860 per annum full‑time earnings, £23,088 actual earnings.
30 hours per week.

Application Requirements
- 6‑month probationary period.
- Verification of identity and proven right to work in the UK.
- Satisfactory references from previous employers covering a 3‑year period.
- Declaration of any unspent criminal convictions (and where appropriate a satisfactory risk assessment).
- Prison Vetting and Disclosure and Barring Service check.
- Being bankrupt or possessing County Court Judgements may affect ability to be successfully vetted to work in a prison.
