Job Description:

We are currently working in partnership with a small federation of primary schools in Harrogate that is looking for a 121 KS2 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 pupil with special needs on a full‑time, long‑term basis for the rest of the academic year 25/26, with the potential for the role to be extended into the 26/27.

Working hours are Monday to Friday 08:30 – 15:30.

Essential experience / skills

  • Experience working as a SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant with primary aged pupils
  • A calm, patient, and confident approach towards behaviour management
  • Ability to follow risk assessments and behaviour support strategies
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to supporting pupils learning and development needs

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with special educational needs throughout the day
  • Support learning, engagement, and emotional regulation in line with individual support plans
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SEND team to adapt activities and support progress
  • Promote a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
  • Support school safeguarding strategies and policies at all times
