Starting salary for this role is £30,518 (pro rata for part‑time colleagues). This role sits within a well‑defined pay band, offering clear progression as you grow your career at BCP. All new starters begin at the entry point of the band, ensuring fairness and consistency across the organisation.

Role Purpose

As part of the Focused Deterrence project and our response to knife crime, we are looking to recruit a Community Resource Worker for a fixed period of 12 months. The role involves supporting children and young people to engage them in constructive activities and enable them to learn new skills, building confidence, self‑esteem and deterring further offending.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support children and young people to engage in constructive activities and help them learn new skills, building confidence and self‑esteem while deterring further offending.
  • Apply hands‑on skills in areas such as mechanics, bike maintenance, DIY, crafting, and cooking to model acceptable behaviour and promote pro‑social attitudes.
  • Manage challenging behaviour and maintain a good understanding of child protection issues.
  • Build positive relationships with each child or young person and support them to achieve accreditation with AQA where appropriate.
  • Access training and professional development to enhance skills and support future career development.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Outgoing and friendly personality with strong communication skills.
  • Experience working with children and young people, including managing challenging behaviour.
  • Understanding of child protection and safeguarding.
  • Willingness to travel as required and work flexible hours, including non‑office hours; lone working in community and office settings.
  • Existing right to work in the UK; not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Ideal Candidate

An outgoing and friendly personality is vital, as is the ability to communicate well while playing your part in the team supporting each young person.
