Job Description:

The Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health is one of the University’s largest and most complex faculties, delivering world‑leading teaching, research and clinical activity across laboratory, clinical, teaching and office environments, including NHS Trust sites.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced person to fill the post of School Compliance and Risk Manager within the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health. The position is a permanent full‑time role within the Compliance and Risk Team. The postholder will provide professional leadership and operational oversight of health and safety, compliance and risk management within an assigned School. Working closely with School and Faculty leadership, the postholder will ensure statutory, regulatory and University requirements are met, risks are effectively managed, and a strong, proactive safety culture is embedded.

Key focus areas

  • Health and safety leadership in laboratory, biological, chemical and clinical settings
  • Compliance with legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Incident investigation, assurance, audits and action tracking
  • Governance, committee support and escalation
  • Risk assessment, emergency planning and staff competence
