Overview
BPAS is seeking a Treatment Doctor / Surgeon to perform terminations of pregnancy at the Leicester Clinic, with the role generally on Thursdays (7.5 hours). The closing date is 25 March 2026.
BPAS is an independent healthcare charity that provides abortion advice and treatment across the UK, offering services in NHS-covered care where applicable. This role focuses on safe, effective surgical and medical terminations of pregnancy for BPAS clients.

About you
With a Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent and full General Medical Council (GMC) registration plus a license to practice, you will be committed to reproductive healthcare and to treating BPAS clients professionally and with care. You will support a woman’s right to choose abortion and have strong communication skills to build relationships across the business.
Main duties of the job
- Carry out termination of pregnancy by the appropriate method to evacuate the products of conception and ensure complete abortion in accordance with BPAS clinical policies and procedures
- Complete client consultations if needed and complete the statutory documentation
- Assess and provide advice on the management of clients with medical or other conditions that may affect the abortion process
- Be present in the operating theatre during each procedure and remain on site until clients are assessed fit for discharge or transferred to another on-site doctor
- Provide support, advice and guidance to nursing staff in the management of unexpected outcomes
We are also looking for:
- Experience of independent practice for abortion procedures/gestations relevant to the post, or willingness to be trained in-house
- Knowledge of termination of pregnancy procedures and the assessment and management of complications
- Strong communication skills with the ability to be pro-active and flexible
- Experience of IUD/Implant insertion along with knowledge of sexual health issues
- Willing to travel to other locations within the region and/or work flexibly

Working Pattern: Every Thursday
Salary: £103,020 – £154,020 per annum (pro rata for part-time hours) depending on gestational skills & experience.

Qualifications
