Senior Mental Health Practitioner – North East London NHS Foundation Trust

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our Interact Psychiatric Liaison Brookside team, based at Goodmayes Hospital. This band 6, full‑time fixed‑term position (37.5 hours per week, 7‑day pattern covering 365 days per year) offers a salary range of £39,959 to £48,117 per annum (pro‑rated for part‑time). The role involves traveling across the four London boroughs served by the service.

Responsibilities

  • Organise and prioritise your own workload and that of others, ensuring effective day‑to‑day allocation of tasks.
  • Provide leadership by deputising for the team manager when required and delegating responsibilities appropriately to healthcare assistants.
  • Ensure adherence to Trust protocols and procedures, particularly those related to the administration of medicine and safe moving and handling practices.
  • Maintain accurate records for audit purposes in line with Trust requirements.
  • Manage team‑level risks, including accident and incident reporting, risk assessment, and contributing to the Trust’s risk register.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise workloads for yourself and others.
  • Experience in providing leadership, deputising for managers, and delegating tasks to team members.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Trust protocols and procedures, especially in medicine administration and moving and handling.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate records for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Strong understanding of risk management, including incident reporting and risk assessment practices.
