About the role
Gartner analysts are industry thought leaders who create must‑have research, market predictions and best practices for world‑leading organizations. A director serves as a leader within Gartner’s Business and Technology Insights group, establishing a credible voice in the designated market at local, regional, and global levels. Utilizing exceptional research and analytical skills, the director, analyst produces pragmatic and provocative research that clients consume to propel their business toward key objectives. The role includes engaging clients through in‑person and virtual meetings, sales support visits, and Gartner conferences to discuss complex challenges and offer recommendations.
This analyst sits within Gartner’s Marketing & Communications Tech Marketing practice and guides B2B CMOs and demand‑generation teams in transforming their functions for business impact. The focus is on B2B content marketing strategy, including workflows, technology, AI readiness and the oversight needed for AI‑agent transformation in content marketing practices. Additional responsibilities include evaluating marketing technology such as Magic Quadrants, Critical Capabilities, Market Guides and Hype Cycles, primarily within B2B content marketing.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop an “AI‑ready” content strategy supporting all phases of B2B buying, ensuring brand integrity, compliance, and ethical use.
- Guide B2B CMOs in lead generation through content execution and personalization across campaigns, improving pipeline, conversions, and buying group consensus.
- Advise on vertical content marketing strategies and AI tools to scale content creation.
- Measure and report business impact of content investments, define ROI metrics and ContentOps metrics, and simplify content dashboards.
- Assess organizational readiness for AI agents, recommend supply‑chain processes, talent upskilling, and cross‑functional collaboration models.
- Provide insights on content marketing technology, including CMPs, GenAI tools, and AI agents, and evaluate opportunities and risks across content workflows.
- Determine build/buy/partner approaches for AI agents aligned with content goals.
- Deliver high‑quality advice to executive clients via media, written evidence‑based content, presentations for webinars, and client‑facing events.
- Offer sales and service support, build credibility as an industry expert, and actively participate in research discussions.
- Mentor and coach junior team members.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant B2B marketing experience, including content marketing leadership in technology companies or large business units.
- Experience with native and embedded AI technologies in content marketing.
- Bachelor’s degree (Graduate degree preferred).
- Strong executive presence; can establish credibility with senior leaders.
- Excellent organizational, written, verbal, analytical and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis, applying patterns and frameworks to client challenges.
- Ability to work independently, collaborate across multicultural global teams, and communicate complex concepts clearly.
- Experience representing research methodology and strategy at all levels.
