Quality and Manufacturing Engineer

Kingston Barnes has a fantastic opportunity for a high-performing and enthusiastic Quality and Manufacturing Engineer working within a small specialist team on multiple projects to improve and sustain existing products and ensure the products meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and manufacturability.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing all key quality control activities including final quality checks, quality inspection, first article inspection, and non-conformances alongside providing hands‑on manufacturing engineering support. You will ensure that new and existing designs and production ready processes are strong, and issues are contained and resolved. Specific tasks include:

  • Lead the company’s quality strategy, ensuring compliance with ISO standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor quality performance, lead root cause investigations, and drive corrective and preventative actions.
  • Oversee quality processes including inbound inspection, First Article Inspection (FAI), and final quality checks.
  • Manage customer complaints, RMAs, and warranty investigations to ensure timely resolution.
  • Define and manage supplier quality standards, including supplier NCRs and corrective actions.
  • Support new product introduction, design reviews, DFMEA activities, and prototype builds.
  • Develop work instructions and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.
  • Support outsourcing and external manufacturing partners where required.

The Candidate

  • Proven experience in a Quality and/or Mechanical Engineering role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management methods and continuous improvement practices.
  • Ability to review designs for manufacturability and participate in DFMEA activities.
  • Customer‑focused mindset with a commitment to solving problems and delivering value.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across teams.
  • Highly organised, detail‑oriented, and accountable for delivering results.
  • Proactive problem solver with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Engineering qualifications desirable.

  • £45,000 – £50,000 per annum
