Project Manager – Civil Engineering / Water

Manchester

Up to £70,000 (DOE) + Package

An established civil engineering and utilities contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to support the delivery of civil engineering projects across long-term client frameworks.

This role would be particularly well suited to someone with experience delivering projects within the water sector, utilities, infrastructure or wider civil engineering environments.

The company has a strong pipeline of work across the North West and is looking for someone who can take ownership of projects from planning and mobilisation through to completion and handover.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing civil engineering projects on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards.

They will work closely with Contracts Managers, commercial teams, design partners, subcontractors, site teams and clients to ensure projects are properly planned, resourced and delivered.

This position would suit someone who is confident managing site operations, subcontractors, programme, quality, health & safety, environmental standards and client communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing civil engineering and water-related projects from start to finish

• Taking responsibility for site health, safety, quality and environmental standards

• Coordinating site teams, subcontractors, plant, materials and daily operations

• Carrying out site inspections, toolbox talks, inductions and daily briefings

• Ensuring RAMS, permits, records and project documentation are maintained correctly

• Monitoring progress against programme and supporting weekly planning

• Liaising with clients and keeping them updated on progress, changes and key issues

• Supporting commercial teams with variations, valuations and project records

• Managing technical queries, verbal instructions and handover information

• Ensuring works are completed in line with drawings, specifications and client requirements

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience as a Project Manager, Site Manager or Senior Supervisor within civil engineering, utilities or water infrastructure.

Experience working for a contractor delivering water sector projects would be highly beneficial, particularly within framework environments.

They will need to be a strong organiser, confident communicator and capable of managing site teams, subcontractors, clients and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• Civil engineering, utilities or water sector project experience

• Previous experience in a Project Manager, Site Manager or senior supervisory role

• CSCS accreditation

• SMSTS

• First Aid

• Good understanding of CDM regulations

• Good understanding of NEC contracts

• Strong planning, leadership and people management skills

• Ability to read and work from drawings, specifications and project documentation

• Full UK driving licence

• HNC/HND/Degree in a construction-related subject would be advantageous

• Temporary Works Supervisor and SEATS would be beneficial
