About us

A leading UK infrastructure and utilities business is seeking an experienced Employment Solicitor to join its London legal team. Working closely with senior stakeholders across the Legal and People teams, the successful candidate will provide strategic and day-to-day employment law advice across both contentious and non-contentious matters.

The role offers broad exposure across a complex organisation and would suit an experienced employment lawyer who enjoys balancing legal risk with pragmatic commercial solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Advising on a full range of employment law matters including disciplinary and grievance processes, dismissals, redundancies, reorganisations, discrimination, whistleblowing and restrictive covenants

  • Providing legal updates and training to internal stakeholders on developments in employment law
  • Supporting compliance with governance obligations, statutory duties and regulatory requirements
  • Building strong relationships across the business and managing external legal panel relationships
  • Supporting and mentoring more junior team members where appropriate
  • Contributing to the continued growth and reputation of the legal function

About you

  • Qualified Solicitor in England, Wales or Scotland with approximately 5–8 years’ PQE in employment law
  • Strong experience advising large employer clients on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters
  • Proven ability to deliver commercially focused and pragmatic legal advice to senior stakeholders
  • Excellent technical, negotiation and communication skills
  • Proactive, solutions-focused and confident operating autonomously within a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships across the business
  • Experience mentoring or developing junior colleagues would be advantageous
  • Prior in-house or regulated sector experience is beneficial but not essential

What’s in it for you

  • Hybrid working arrangement based in central London
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Enhanced pension scheme
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
  • Life assurance
  • Holiday Plus scheme
  • Cycle2Work scheme
  • Opportunity to join a collaborative and highly respected in-house legal team in a newly created role
  • Exposure to strategic, business-critical employment matters within a large and complex organisation
