Job overview
Queen Elizabeth’s Academy is looking for cleaners to join our staff. Successful candidates will undertake general cleaning duties to provide a clean, hygienic and safe environment for teaching and other academy activities.
Working 10 hours per week over 5 days, mornings (6 am–8 am) or afternoons (3 pm–5 pm), term time only. Optional up to 4 weeks during school holidays. Applicants may select morning and/or afternoon shifts.
This post is suitable for new entrants with related experience or experienced cleaners.
Responsibilities
- Carry out cleaning tasks set out in the academy’s cleaning schedule.
- Use all cleaning materials and equipment in a safe and proper manner and in accordance with any instructions and specifications provided.
- Take initiative to perform cleaning and tidying tasks that are not specifically contained within the rota but require attention as part of maintaining overall high standards.
- Observe health and safety and security requirements.
- Complete any appropriate records or documentation required by the Academy.
- Maintain good working relationships with other academy staff and cooperate with reasonable changes to daily work routines to assist the smooth operation of the academy.
- Ensure that work undertaken complies with stated requirements and undertake appropriate training, as required.
Qualifications and experience
- Some knowledge of Health & Safety regulations as they relate to the operation of cleaning equipment and the dilution of cleaning materials.
- Knowledge of COSHH and safe use of chemicals.
- Knowledge of cleaning best practices.
- Experience of undertaking a range of cleaning duties.
- Ability to work in an organized and methodical manner.
- Ability to act on own initiative, dealing with any unexpected problems that arise.
