Overview

We are looking for enthusiastic residential care workers to join our team, building strong relationships and fostering a warm, supportive environment for children and young people. From planning engaging activities and providing one‑on‑one support to accompanying young people on off‑site trips, each day presents new challenges and opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emotional support during challenging times.
  • Foster ambition in young people, assisting them in achieving their goals and maximising their potential.
  • Offer support in the educational pursuits of young individuals.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare written reports for planning meetings, reviews or any other meetings as directed by the line manager.
  • Empower young people to actively participate in decision‑making about their lives and future.
  • Act as an advocate in meetings where the young person is the subject of discussion.
  • Encourage community engagement by attending off‑site activities and expanding personal social networks.
  • Organise social activities and maintain the home (laundry, cooking, cleaning, shopping, etc.).
  • Plan engaging activities and provide one‑on‑one support to young people.
  • Accompany young people on off‑site trips.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age requirement: 21 years old.
  • Full UK driving licence preferable but not essential.
  • No prior experience necessary; a commitment and passion for working with young people are required.
  • Must have availability for sleep‑in shifts.
  • Ready to use an electronic care recording system daily; experience with Clearcare is an advantage, but full training will be provided.
  • Confident use of digital systems is expected.
  • NVQ Level 4 in the children and young people workforce (or equivalent).

Shift Patterns

  • 2‑3 shifts per week on a full‑time basis.
  • Pattern: 2 days in, 4 days off – sleep‑ins are mandatory.
  • Sleep‑in compensation: £30 per shift, totaling an additional £3,600 per month based on 10 sleep‑ins.
  • Overtime rate: 1.25× regular pay.
  • Rota provided 4 weeks in advance.
