Band 6 Clinical Technologist/Treatment Planner

Leeds Cancer Centre, St James’s University Hospital – Permanent position (Annex 21 eligible).

Job Summary

Seeking a radiographer/clinical technologist with radiotherapy experience to join a team of 20 technologists/dosimetrists in the treatment planning section. Candidates may have less experience but must fit within band 6. The role includes participation in rotation through site specialist teams, routine dosimetry, linac and simulator quality control, and teaching radiotherapy staff undergoing training.

Main Duties

  • Participate in rotation of technologists/dosimetrists through site specialist teams.
  • Contribute to routine dosimetry, linac and simulator quality control.
  • Teach radiotherapy staff undergoing training.
  • Engage in research and innovation, supporting a portfolio of local and national clinical trials.
  • Assist with advanced extra‑cranial SBRT service for spine, liver and pelvis.

Qualifications – Essential

  • Degree in Clinical Technology or related discipline (or equivalent) backed up by specific training in radiotherapy treatment planning (post‑graduate diploma level).

Experience – Essential

  • Knowledge in the operation of 3‑D treatment planning systems.
  • Knowledge of CT simulator output and patient set up.

Additional Experience (Good to Have)

  • Experience with linear accelerators, CT simulators and mould room output.
  • Auditor training.
