Advanced Wellbeing Instructor

We have an opportunity for a part time advanced well being instructor to join our team. The position will support delivery specifically at our staff only gym facilities at Cramlington, Wansbeck and Seaton Delaval.
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Deliver gym inductions at hospital site gyms.
- Identify physical activity goals, design and monitor personalized programmes.
- To induct to the gym facilities, provide fitness programmes and monitor progress, assisting staff to increase their physical activity and improve their overall wellbeing.
- To deliver fitness classes and personal training both in-person and virtually to meet the needs and goals of the members.
- To work with referral cases from other services including physiotherapy and psychology.
- To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

Main duties of the job
- Identifying and engaging with individuals who have wellbeing membership and encouraging those who do not have membership to join. Attending engagement events to raise awareness of the wellbeing offer across the whole trust.
- Supporting individuals to make informed choices about their health and wellbeing and supporting them in initiating and sustaining appropriate behavioural changes to improve their health.
- Helping people to find and use the right services to support health improvement.
- Identifying new referral pathways and strengthening existing ones into the Wellbeing Service.
- To work with the Activity and Wellbeing Coordinator to undertake capacity building work.
- Support the delivery of an activity and wellbeing plan which incorporates a range of opportunities for staff to engage in wellbeing related activities within the gym and wellness facilities.
- Recording and reporting activities and results including presentation of progress to Wellbeing business manager.
- Manage and support the responsibilities and outcomes of Fitness / Gym instructor roles.
- Contribute to the safe running of the staff gym and wellbeing facilities, and ensuring all processes, policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Promote wellbeing services to staff and contribute to raising the profile in our communities.
- Contribute to the safe management of the hospital gym suites and wellbeing areas (indoors and outdoors).
Job responsibilities

- Maintain appropriate records in relation to Northumbria Wellbeing members, including their activity and any relevant data collected, ensuring that data / information is collected and stored appropriately and in line with relevant sector / legislative guidelines.
- As part of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation trusts multi-disciplinary team, contribute to the implementation of appropriate wellbeing activities that support projects, awards and recognition events in relation to the provision of a healthy working environment.
Qualifications
- Level 3 health related qualification or equivalent plus experience to diploma level or equivalent.
- First Aid Qualification.
- Qualified to NVQ level 3 or working towards, preferably in a related subject.
- Certificate/Professional qualification in a related area e.g. Exercise referral, Nutrition, Obesity and weight management.
- Degree in a health-related subject e.g. Sports Science.
- Exercise qualifications specific to special population groups.
- Registration with a professional body e.g. CIMSPA.
Other Requirements
- It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role.
Experience
- Experience of working with local community groups, health sector or voluntary sector in some capacity.
- Knowledge of lifestyle factors that make people healthy and unhealthy.
- Knowledge of behaviour change methods.
- Knowledge of health needs of the local community.
- Experience of working with individuals for exercise referral.
- Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools.
- Knowledge of or experience in Quality improvement tools, techniques and methods.
