Position Overview

Teaching Assistant

St Germans Academy

27.5 hours per week, term time plus 1 week.

Permanent position.

Salary: MRS Scale D, Point 6 – Point 7. Actual salary £16,540 – £16,803 per annum. Full time equivalent salary £25,989 – £26,403.

Responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher and other teaching assistants with children’s work and play.
• Support pupil behaviour, establish good relationships with pupils and act as a role model.
• Respond to individual student needs, including supporting intimate care and playing on the floor.
• Respond promptly to escalated situations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Versatile, resilient and committed.
• Experience and skills supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
• Fluency in English.

Legal and Safety Requirements

• Must undergo an enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references.
• Must complete a declaration form under the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations 2009.
• Will be subject to safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including Disclosure & Barring Service checks and references covering the last three years.
