Job Overview
We are looking for an Apprentice to join the Estimating team in our Social Infrastructure business. The apprentice will calculate construction project costs, negotiate with suppliers, compile cost proposals and gain hands‑on experience as part of a national apprenticeship programme.
Responsibilities
- Assist with preparation, production, distribution and analysis of subcontractor/supplier/consultant enquiries and returns.
- Send tender enquiries to supply chain partners in a timely manner.
- Compare supply chain quotations.
- Prepare accurate take‑offs from bid drawings.
- Assist with compiling and presenting statistical data for pricing/bid analysis.
- Assist with site measurements for different trade packages.
- Support the Estimator in construction of accurate, competitive and timely bid submissions.
- Learn and apply company systems including Conquest estimating and take‑off software.
- File and distribute documents and drawings.
- Prepare Tender Summary documents.
- Learn the tender process from initial enquiry to handover.
- Assist with administrative functions of the Estimating department.
- Develop understanding of construction methods and materials.
Apprenticeship Details
As an Apprentice you will be enrolled onto the Level4 Construction Quantity Surveying Technician Apprenticeship delivered by one of our training partners. Dedicated study time will be provided, along with lectures, learning materials and one‑to‑one support from a tutor or coach. Upon successful completion you will be awarded a Level4 Construction Quantity Surveying Technician Apprenticeship, a Certificate of Higher Education in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management, and will automatically qualify for TechCIOB‑L4 professional accreditation. You will also be supported to progress to the Level6 Construction Quantity Surveyor Degree Apprenticeship programme.
Qualifications
- Level3 qualification such as A Levels, T Level or equivalent, with a minimum of 104 UCAS tariff points.
- 5 GCSEs at Grade9‑4 (A*–C) including English and Mathematics.
- Good IT skills and ability to use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Good organisation, time management and communication skills.
- Driving licence, or actively working towards one.
- Availability to start full‑time work in September2026.
- Commitment to company values and motivation to complete the apprenticeship programme.
- Must not already hold an equivalent or higher qualification in the occupational area or significant work experience.
