The role of the Kitchen Assistant

• Supporting the preparation and service of food within a college kitchen environment
• Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and safety
• Acting as a lead figure within the kitchen and stepping up when required
• Using a PC system to complete basic reporting and communicate updates
• Liaising confidently with the client on site, ensuring satisfaction and professionalism at all times
• Providing a stable and reliable presence, particularly when senior management is off site

The ideal Kitchen Assistant

• Previous experience working in a professional kitchen environment
• Ability to lead or step up within a team setting
• Comfortable using a PC for basic reporting and communication
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Confident dealing with clients and representing the service positively
• Reliable, proactive and able to work with minimal supervision
• DBS required

Additional context

This role goes beyond standard kitchen duties, requiring an individual who can take initiative and provide leadership on site.
