Peer Support Worker – Band 3

It is why we’re embedding lived experience roles across our mental health and learning disability services, and we’re looking for a Peer Support Worker (PSW) to join us at this exciting time.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who has had direct, first‑hand experience of being supported by mental health services such as Early Intervention in Psychosis Teams and Community Mental Health Teams. Experience of supporting others and using coping skills to aid recovery is essential.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work within our Enablement Team, whose ethos is CHIME (Connectedness, Hope, Identity, Meaning and Empowerment). In this role you will take on further training (PSW training, Care Certificate, 2‑day introduction to PSW via the Recovery and Wellbeing Academy), and be supported by the Senior PSW to safely navigate and thrive. You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams to engage and deliver services, promote recovery, and help co‑create and deliver educational workshops and courses for residents of Coventry and Warwickshire.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to undertake online training, Care Certificate, internal training relevant to sharing lived experience.
  • Relevant level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care and/or relevant lived experience.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Health/safety and risk awareness.
  • Lived experience of accessing an early intervention in psychosis service and ability to reflect on personal recovery.
  • Experience of working with individuals with multiple and complex needs.
  • Experience of working with individuals with autism and/or learning disability.

Personal Attributes

  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to act calmly in emergencies and respond professionally to stressful or challenging behaviour.
  • Ability to work unsupervised in a range of settings.

£25,760 to £27,476 a year (pro rata).
