Pay and hoursShift Leader rate of pay starts from £15.59 per hour; increases to £16.86 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location. It is Tesco policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week; roles with a minimum of 12 hours are also available.

We will schedule your contracted hours within the availability windows and provide 3 weeks notice of your shifts. We are committed to flexibility and will consider near-match availability.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a fast-paced retail environment with variety
  • Lead duty shifts, coordinate the team to deliver a clean, well-stocked store and exceed customer expectations
  • Assist customers and ensure they leave with what they came for
  • Provide coaching and feedback to the team to improve service
  • Guide and support colleagues to maintain a safe in-store environment
  • Understand store performance and assist managers in implementing actions to improve operations
  • Lead by example and set a high standard for colleagues

You will be responsible for

  • Coordinating the store team to deliver an easy, fuss-free shopping experience
  • Supporting colleagues to meet daily priorities and take regular breaks
  • Opening and closing the store and managing duty cover with safety in mind
  • Being the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of a manager
  • Ensuring the store is clean, tidy and well-presented
  • Coordinating seasonal, community and charity events with managers
  • Fostering a great, inclusive team atmosphere
  • Providing excellent customer service by listening to customers
  • Keeping the team informed of communications, changes, or updates
  • Staying informed about store performance and seeking improvements
  • Coordinating store improvements and removing obstacles to service
  • Following health and safety procedures and ensuring others do the same
  • Recognising and celebrating colleagues for great service
