Pay and hoursShift Leader rate of pay starts from £15.59 per hour; increases to £16.86 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location. It is Tesco policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week; roles with a minimum of 12 hours are also available.
We will schedule your contracted hours within the availability windows and provide 3 weeks notice of your shifts. We are committed to flexibility and will consider near-match availability.

It takes a lot of great people to run a store, and a great Shift Leader helps keep things running smoothly. You will oversee store operations from the shop floor and work to improve outcomes for customers, colleagues and communities.
Responsibilities
- Work in a fast-paced retail environment with variety
- Lead duty shifts, coordinate the team to deliver a clean, well-stocked store and exceed customer expectations
- Assist customers and ensure they leave with what they came for
- Provide coaching and feedback to the team to improve service
- Guide and support colleagues to maintain a safe in-store environment
- Understand store performance and assist managers in implementing actions to improve operations
- Lead by example and set a high standard for colleagues

You will be responsible for
- Coordinating the store team to deliver an easy, fuss-free shopping experience
- Supporting colleagues to meet daily priorities and take regular breaks
- Opening and closing the store and managing duty cover with safety in mind
- Being the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of a manager
- Ensuring the store is clean, tidy and well-presented
- Coordinating seasonal, community and charity events with managers
- Fostering a great, inclusive team atmosphere
- Providing excellent customer service by listening to customers
- Keeping the team informed of communications, changes, or updates
- Staying informed about store performance and seeking improvements
- Coordinating store improvements and removing obstacles to service
- Following health and safety procedures and ensuring others do the same
- Recognising and celebrating colleagues for great service
