Philip Morant School and College was judged as “Good” in all areas by Ofsted in September 2023. We are looking for a Teacher of Science who can be a key part in our ongoing improvement journey.

The Science department is led by our enthusiastic Director of Science with a team of subject coordinators in physics, chemistry and biology.

Curriculum & Opportunities

Science is very popular and is studied from key stage 3 through to key stage 5, running all three sciences at A level. We follow the ARK science curriculum.

Our STEM Academy as part of our sixth form provision is providing access to students to the STEM labs at the University of Essex, residential trips to CERN, visiting lecturers and employers and collaboration with local STEM organisations.

A Day in the Life

You will be responsible for bringing your passion and expertise to the following areas:

  • Student progress and development within your classes
  • Innovation in your own teaching and to develop and enhance the teaching practice of others
  • Collaborative planning with colleagues in order to promote effective practice and provide a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum
  • As a form tutor to promote a sense of belonging amongst our students

  • Demonstrated ability to teach inspiring lessons in Science
  • Ability to implement schemes of work and ensure they are implemented to a high standard
