About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to work within our high-needs ASD provision at a vibrant primary school in Tottenham. This role is specifically suited to candidates with proven, hands‑on experience in a similar high-needs ASD or specialist SEN setting. You will support pupils with complex autism‑related needs, including communication difficulties, sensory regulation challenges, and personal care requirements. Working closely with the SENCo, class teacher, and external professionals, you will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning in a structured, supportive, and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with high‑needs ASD.
- Support pupils with personal care, emotional regulation, and sensory needs, ensuring dignity and safety at all times.
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies consistently.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to deliver tailored interventions.
- Help maintain a calm, predictable, and structured classroom environment.
- Promote independence, communication, and social development using appropriate strategies.
Essential Requirements (Must Have)
- Significant previous experience working in a high‑needs ASD or specialist SEND setting (school, SEN unit, or alternative provision).
- Direct experience supporting children with Autism and complex needs, including behaviour regulation and personal care.
- A calm, resilient, and patient approach, particularly in challenging situations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
This role is not suitable for candidates without prior experience in a similar high‑needs ASD environment.
